About
The District Forensic Science Laboratory, Vellore was started in the year 1980
as a Blending unit. It started functioning as Regional Forensic Science Laboratory from 01.11.1983
doing Prohibition Analysis of cases from Vellore, Dharmapuri and Chengalpattu Districts.
From the year 1996 Toxicology analysis was also started and cases received from Vellore and
Tiruvannamalai districts were undertaken. From February 2000 Toxicology cases from Dharmapuri District were also done.
Presently,this laboratory is functioning in the own building whic was constructed at Sathuvachari, Phase-III, Vellore at a cost of 45.792 lakhs.
